Shin Hakkenden was an action-packed anime series set in a futuristic world where wars in heaven were fought over the possession of celestial moons. The story followed eight individuals, each from one of the moons created by the savior Fuse, who possessed jewels representing the elements that make up Earth. These characters were tasked with gathering the jewels and using their powers to prevent the revival of a ghostly emperor Kai who threatened to destroy Earth's restoration. The series depicted their journey aboard the ship Kusanagi as they fought to complete their divine mission and create Earth.

The show had a runtime of approximately 25 minutes per episode.
