This anime series was a science-fiction drama that first premiered in 1995. It was set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2015, where half of Earth's population had been wiped out by the disaster called Second Impact. The story followed 14-year-old Shinji Ikari, who was summoned by his mysterious father to the city of New Tokyo-3 just as a giant creature known as an "Angel" attacked. Shinji was then forced to pilot a giant bio-mechanical robot called an Evangelion to defend humanity from these deadly creatures.
The series featured a cast including Spike Spencer and Megumi Ogata as Shinji Ikari, Allison Keith and Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato Katsuragi, Amanda Winn Lee and Megumi Hayashibara as Rei Ayanami, and Yuko Miyamura and Tiffany Grant as Asuka Langley Souryuu. It received a rating of 7.9 on TVMaze and had a runtime of 25 minutes per episode. The show consisted of 26 episodes in its only season, which concluded in early 1996.
