Mao-chan was a children's anime series that first premiered on July 3, 2002. It was a comedy and science-fiction show featuring a young girl named Mao Onigawara, who was an 8-year-old with a special badge that allowed her to transform. Along with her friends, all granddaughters of military chiefs, Mao defended Japan from adorable alien invasions, blending humor with light adventure.
The show featured voice actors such as Kimiko Koyama as Mao Onigawara, Yui Horie as Silvia Maruyama, Yuuya Yoshikawa as Misora Tsukishima, and Miki Nagasawa as Kagome Mishima. The episodes had a runtime of approximately 15 minutes each.
