The show was an anime series that premiered in October 1995. It followed the adventures of Makoto Mizuhara, a student who is transported to the fantastical world of El Hazard after an experiment goes awry. There, Makoto encounters a range of characters, including Princess Rune Venus and the villain Katsuhiko Jinnai, as he tries to find a way back home while dealing with conflicts involving giant insects called Bugrom and a demon god named Ifurita.
The cast included Tetsuya Iwanaga as Makoto Mizuhara, Kikuko Inoue as Rune Venus, Rio Natsuki as Nanami Jinnai, Ryotaro Okiayu as Katsuhiko Jinnai, Etsuko Kozakura as Alielle, and Tomo Sakurai as Shayla-Shayla.
