The series was an action-packed anime set during the Warring States period of Japan, approximately a year before the Battle of Sekigahara. It followed Kirigakure Saizou, an Iga Ninja searching for his purpose, who encountered Isanami, a shrine maiden from Izumo, being attacked by assassins. Isanami had survived the burning of Izumo Temple by Tokugawa Ieyasu's forces and was traveling to Shinshuu to find safety with Sanada Yukimura. Meanwhile, Sanada Yukimura was gathering ten extraordinary warriors known as the Sanada Ten Braves, whose combined strength was believed to have the power to influence history. Throughout the series, the characters faced numerous battles, and Isanami's mysterious inner power began to awaken.
