Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 was a Japanese anime series set in the year 2199. It depicted a future where humanity had been driven underground by an alien invasion from the Gamilos, leaving Earth on the brink of extinction. The story followed young officers Susumu Kodai and Daisuke Shima as they received a mysterious capsule from a ship that crash-landed on Mars. Inside was the last hope for humanity: a plan to reach the planet Iscandar, which held the technology to defeat the Gamilos and save Earth. The space battleship Yamato was tasked with this mission, with the clock ticking down to humanity's possible extinction.

The series featured a cast including Takayuki Sugo as Juuzou Okita, Daisuke Ono as Susumu Kodai, Kenichi Suzumura as Daisuke Shima, Houko Kuwashima as Yuki Mori, and Hōchū Ōtsuka as Shirou Sanada.
