Set during South Korea's wave of democratization and cultural modernization in the early 1990s, The Koreans was a series that explored the lives of a middle-class family hiding a dangerous secret. The story focused on a family where both parents were actually elite North Korean spies working covertly to undermine South Korea from within. The series highlighted the contrast between the seemingly ordinary citizens and their hidden loyalties, delving into themes of patriotism, loyalty, and identity as the family navigated their double lives while a relentless Korean counterintelligence agent drew closer to uncovering their true identities.
