The series was a contemporary take on the classic story, following Tarzan, who was raised by apes after his parents died in the African jungle. The show depicted his life after being captured by his wealthy uncle and brought back to New York City. Escaping captivity, Tarzan encountered Detective Jane, who was already involved with another man, and faced choices between the worlds of civilization and humanity.
The drama, action, and adventure series premiered on October 5, 2003, and consisted of 8 episodes. Travis Fimmel starred as John Clayton Jr./Tarzan, with Sarah Wayne Callies playing Detective Jane Porter. The cast also included Mitch Pileggi, Miguel A. Nunez, Jr., Lucy Lawless, and Leighton Meester.
