Penguindrum was a Japanese anime series that premiered in 2011. It was a drama, comedy, and mystery series that followed the lives of three siblings—Takakura Kanba, Takakura Shouma, and their terminally ill sister Himari. After Himari's death during a trip, she was miraculously saved by a spirit living in a penguin-shaped hat. To extend her life, the siblings embarked on a quest to find an object called the Penguin Drum, aided by three penguins visible only to them.

The cast included Miho Arakawa as Himari Takakura, Ryohei Kimura as Shouma Takakura, Subaru Kimura as Kanba Takakura, Marie Miyake as Ringo Oginome, Akira Ishida as Keiju Tabuki, Mamiko Noto as Yuri Tokikago, Yui Horie as Masako Natsume, and Yutaka Koizumi as Sanetoshi Watase.
