It was based on the lives of creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, focusing on two lifelong best friends and business partners whose friendship was challenged when one of them got engaged. The series starred David Krumholtz as Joe Goodman, a pragmatic architect engaged to Ali Landow, played by Sophia Bush. Michael Urie portrayed Louis McManus, a spontaneous and emotional gay man dating Wyatt Plank, played by Brandon Routh.
