The story followed Tamaya Seikichi, a fireworks craftsman who secretly aimed to create larger and more spectacular fireworks to inspire hope among the people. The series depicted his efforts to build a rocket capable of reaching the moon, involving a diverse group of residents in his neighborhood, including a mechanic, a magician, and a mathematician, working together on the Moon Rocket Plan.

The series featured a cast including Yoko Soumi as Seikichi Tamaya, Chika Fujimura as Sora, Kouichi Yamadera as Ginjirou, and Tokuyoshi Kawashima as Nishinosuke Akai. The show was a drama, comedy, and science-fiction anime that aired for a total of 26 episodes, each approximately 25 minutes long.
