The series depicted the everyday lives and humorous situations of the Harlow family, though it was considered too ordinary to gain a large following and was possibly toned down from the original concept.

The cast included Dweezil Zappa as Jake Harlow, Moon Unit Zappa as Tess Harlow, and Cindy Williams as Anne Harlow, among others.
