Hengshan Hospital was a drama series set in republican era China, specifically in 1930s Shanghai. It focused on the complex conflicts between the Communist Party and the KMT, centered around the activities at Hengshan Hospital. The story followed Ma Tian Ming, a dishonest and self-serving man who, after an accidental incident, found himself involved in a case that led to him impersonating Cai Li Kun, the hospital's chief doctor. He soon discovered that Cai Li Kun was a member of the underground Communist Party.

The show featured actors such as Qin Jun Jie as Ma Tian Ming, Sun Yi as Bai Mo Li, Tu Song Yan as Cai Li Kun, and Xi Mei Juan as Dean Su. The series was a blend of drama, action, and history, and each episode had a runtime of approximately 45 minutes.
