The series followed their friendship and the complex goals they pursued—Bai aimed to help Long achieve his political ambitions, while Long supported Bai’s quest for justice against those who had wronged him.

The series was a drama that combined elements of action and history, and it premiered in October 2018. It consisted of a single season with 20 episodes, each approximately 45 minutes long. The show explored themes of loyalty, revenge, and ambition set against the backdrop of a transformative period in China’s history.
