Dagashi Kashi was a comedy and romance anime series that first premiered on January 7, 2016. It was based on a story about Kokonotsu Shikada, a boy whose father owned a rural sweets shop, and his desire to become a manga artist instead of taking over the family business. The show explored his interactions with the eccentric Hotaru Shidare, who came from a famous sweets company and aimed to persuade Kokonotsu to join her family’s enterprise.
The series featured a cast including Manami Numakura as Saya Endou, Ayana Taketatsu as Hotaru Shidare, Atsushi Abe as Kokonotsu Shikada, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Tou Endou, and Keiji Fujiwara as You Shikada. It was rated 7.1 on TVMaze and had a runtime of approximately 25 minutes per episode.
