Hunter is a 1977 American drama television series starring James Franciscus and Linda Evans. It centered on the exploits of a pair of undercover counterespionage agents. James Hunter worked for an unnamed U.S. government intelligence agency until 1969, when he resigned because he disapproved of the Agency's methods. He retired from the espionage business to run a rare books store in Santa Barbara, California.
Rick Hunter is a plainclothes police detective (a la "Dirty Harry") whose world is made up of pimps, low-lifes and psychopaths. His father was a mobster involved in organized crime who was killed in a shoot-out with rival gangsters.
