Billy Joel has had a successful career as a solo artist since the 1970s. He has had 33 Top 40 hits in the U.S., three of which topped the Billboard Hot 100. He is one of the world's best-selling music artists and is the fourth-best-selling solo artist in the United States. Joel was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992.
