Is While the Men Are Away coming back?

While the Men Are Away ended on September 27, 2023, after its first season. The series aired on SBS On Demand and concluded its run with all eight episodes. There are no announced plans for a new season at this time.

While the Men Are Away was a queer revisionist historical dramedy set in 1940s rural Australia. The show depicted life during World War II when men went off to fight, and women and marginalized groups took on new roles in society. The story focused on two Women's Land Army recruits from Sydney who arrived in the countryside, where they experienced a journey through race relations, rural politics, spirituality, sexuality, and personal growth, all while managing farm work.

The cast included Michela De Rossi as Francesca, Max McKenna as Gwen, Phoebe Grainer as Kathleen, Matt Testro as Robert, Jana Zvedeniuk as Esther, Shaka Cook as Murray, and Benedict Hardie as Des.
