A documentary about the Romanov dynasty. "Tsar" was the primary title of the monarchs of the Russian Empire beginning in 1547. Officially, Ivan IV the Terrible was the first tsar, and Peter I was the last. After Peter I, the title of Russian monarchs became "emperor." However, as a semi-official title, it remained with Russian monarchs until the 1917 Revolution.
