Unfortunate Detective ended on April 25, 2021, after its second season. The series concluded its run on NHK.

Unfortunate Detective was a drama, comedy, and crime series that premiered in 2019. It followed Takashi Oshii, a detective with exceptional reasoning skills who often missed the obvious clues, leading other detectives to get recognition for solving cases. The show was set in Japan and depicted Oshii's investigations, including a case involving the death of a record company CEO's third son, which he believed was not an accident.

The runtime for each episode was approximately 60 minutes.
