Ultimate Restorations ended on November 24, 2014, on PBS. The series concluded after its first season, which aired from October 6 to November 24, 2014.
Ultimate Restorations was a documentary series that focused on the rescue and restoration of some of the most valuable mechanical icons from the Golden Age of innovation and craftsmanship, spanning from 1880 to 1940. Hosted by Bob McNeil, the show highlighted the stories behind eight significant American historical and engineering treasures, including a large pipe organ, a 1920s fire engine, a "fish car" for transporting live fish by train, a priceless carousel, a WWII spy plane, a U.S. yacht that rounded Cape Horn, and a famous steam locomotive. The series showcased the efforts of passionate restorers and craftspeople as they faced challenges such as moving large pieces of equipment, salvaging parts from sea-floor beds, and dealing with complex mechanical systems.
The episodes each had a runtime of 60 minutes.
