The Singing Estate was a music-based series that aired in 2006. It followed the journey of residents from the Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford as they attempted to transform from aspiring singers into a classical choir within three months. Conductor Ivor Setterfield selected 40 participants from 133 auditionees, who came from various age groups and backgrounds, and sang in any style they preferred. The show documented their rehearsals and progress leading up to a performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Each episode had a runtime of approximately 60 minutes. The series was a documentary-style program that focused on community participation and musical development.
