The show was about Stanley and Helen Roper, who owned a new condo in an upscale neighborhood. It depicted their interactions with neighbors, including Jeffrey P. Brooks III, a realtor who thought the Ropers' earthy demeanor was lowering the area's status, and Jeffrey's wife, Anne, who became a friend of Helen's. The series focused on their social and domestic lives, highlighting the humorous contrasts between the characters.
The cast included Norman Fell as Stanley Roper, Audra Lindley as Helen Roper, Jeffrey Tambor as Jeffrey P. Brookes III, Patty McCormack as Anne Brookes, and Evan Cohan as David Brookes. The show received a rating of 6.8 on TVMaze and each episode had a runtime of 30 minutes.
