It also followed his sister Keiko, a freelance writer, as they researched their grandfather Miyabe, who died as a Kamikaze pilot during the Pacific War. Miyabe was skilled as a fighter pilot but was also extraordinarily afraid of death. The story revealed the reasons behind Miyabe's decision to join the Kamikaze corps, uncovering a long-held secret that had been sealed for over 60 years.

The cast included Shirô Itô as Ken'ichirô Ôishi, Osamu Mukai as Miyabe Kyuzo, Mikako Tabe as Matsuno Miyabe, Ryoko Hirosue as Keiko Saeki, Kenta Kiritani as Kentarô Saeki, and others.
