It followed the humorous escapades of a group of binmen, including Cheese and Egg, Heavy Breathing, Smelly Ibbotson, Eric, and Winston, as they performed their waste collection rounds aboard their rubbish truck, affectionately called 'Thunderbird 3.' The series highlighted their attempts to avoid work and their often disparaging remarks about the people whose rubbish they collected. The characters frequently clashed with Bloody Delilah, the stern inspector from the Corporation Cleansing Department, creating comedic tension.

The show featured a cast led by Bryan Pringle as Cheese and Egg, Trevor Bannister as Heavy Breathing, Graham Haberfield as Winston Platt, John Barrett as Smellie Ibbotson, Tim Wylton as Eric, and Brian Wilde as Bloody Delilah, among others. Each episode ran for approximately 30 minutes.
