The Cazalets ended on July 27, 2001, after its six-episode run on BBC One.

The series was a drama and war story set between 1937 and 1945, depicting the lives of a privileged family in London and at their estate in Sussex during the years leading up to and including World War II. It focused on the personal and social upheavals faced by the family members amid the historical backdrop.

The cast included Frederick Treves as William Cazalet, Ursula Howells as Kitty Cazalet, Hugh Bonneville as Hugh Cazalet, Stephen Dillane as Edward Cazalet, Catherine Russell as Rachel Cazalet, Paul Rhys as Rupert Cazalet, Anastasia Hille as Sybil Cazalet, and Lesley Manville as Villy Cazalet.
