The Big Spell ended on February 19, 2017, on Sky Showcase.

The show was a family competition series that aired in 2017, featuring young spellers competing in various challenges centered around spelling, words, and meanings. It was more than a traditional spelling bee, incorporating dramatic moments and emotional highs and lows as the children showcased their language skills, with their parents watching from backstage.

The Big Spell was hosted by Sue Perkins, with comedian Joe Lycett backstage with the parents, and broadcasting legend Moira Stuart officiating as the show's pronouncer.
