Is Space Patrol coming back?
Space Patrol (1963–1964) — children · science-fiction on ITV1
About Space Patrol
Space Patrol ended on June 11, 1964, on ITV1. The series was a science-fiction marionette show set in the year 2100, focusing on the interplanetary police force known as Space Patrol. It followed the crew of Galasphere 347, led by Captain Larry Dart, as they worked to maintain peace among Earth, Mars, and Venus. The show depicted their adventures and challenges in a futuristic universe, using puppet techniques similar to those developed by Gerry Anderson. Premiering on October 31, 1963, Space Patrol was created by Roberta Leigh and Arthur Provis. Despite its modest budget, it gained popularity among young viewers in the UK and was broadcast internationally, including in America under the name Planet Patrol to avoid confusion with an earlier series. The show was notable for its imaginative storytelling and the depiction of a future where humans from different planets collaborated to uphold peace. It aired over three seasons, concluding in June 1964, and remains remembered as a distinctive example of 1960s science-fiction children's programming.
