Sidekicks was a TV action-adventure series that aired from September 26, 1986, to June 13, 1987. It was inspired by the TV movie "The Last Electric Knight" and centered around Sergeant Jake Rizzo, a somewhat disorganized cop, who was unexpectedly chosen by a mystical figure to become the guardian of a young martial arts prodigy named Ernie. The series combined crime-fighting with elements of martial arts and supernatural themes.
The cast included Ernie Reyes, Jr. as Ernie Lee, Gil Gerard as Sergeant Jake Rizzo, Nancy Stafford as Patricia Blake, Frank Bonner as Det. R.T. Mooney, Vinny Argiro as Capt. Blanks, and Keye Luke as Sabasan.
