The show was a fantasy drama based on Cassandra Clare's bestselling young adult book series The Mortal Instruments. It followed 18-year-old Clary Fray, who discovered on her birthday that she was part of a long line of Shadowhunters—human-angel hybrids tasked with hunting demons. When her mother was kidnapped, Clary was drawn into a supernatural world inhabited by faeries, warlocks, vampires, and werewolves. Her journey was one of self-discovery as she learned about her origins and her potential future.

The cast included Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, and Alberto Rosende as Simon Lewis. The series was rated 6.7 on TVMaze and had a runtime of 60 minutes per episode.
