Rupel was a Flemish police drama series that premiered on September 3, 2004. It followed a police team investigating and solving crimes, usually within a single episode. The show was set in the district along the river Rupel and featured characters such as inspector Lucas Bataillie, played by Johan Terryn, and his colleague and on-and-off romantic partner. The series also included a young trainee, Simon Knops, portrayed by Tim van Hoecke, and depicted the interactions within the police force, including the often ineffective old commissioner.

The cast included Hilde Heijnen as Veerle De Tender, Raymond Bossaerts as Police Commissioner Herman Cardoen, Dominique Collet as Hilde Knops, and Ingrid De Vos as Valérie Sonneville. The show had a runtime of approximately 50 minutes per episode.
