New Scotland Yard was a British crime drama series that originally premiered on 22 April 1972. It followed the activities of detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department at the Metropolitan police headquarters, focusing on their efforts to solve various criminal cases. The series was set in London and depicted the day-to-day work of police officers dealing with different villains and criminal activities.
The series starred John Woodvine as Chief Supt. John Kingdom and John Carlisle as Detective Sgt. Alan Ward. It consisted of four seasons, with the last season airing in 1974. The show ran for a total of 46 episodes, each approximately 60 minutes long. Although it did not achieve the same ratings as its sister series, Special Branch, it remained a notable part of early 1970s British television crime dramas.
