The series was a period action-adventure set in 1946, following Peggy Carter as she navigated life after World War II. Working for the covert Strategic Scientific Reserve (SSR), Peggy balanced administrative duties with secret missions for Howard Stark. The show was inspired by the Marvel films Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. It focused on her efforts to establish herself in a male-dominated environment while dealing with personal loss.
