Macross Frontier was a science fiction anime series that aired in 2008. It was set in a future universe where humanity had fled to space to escape war with giant alien species called Zentradi. The story followed the 25th Giant Immigration fleet, known as Macross Frontier, as it journeyed toward the galaxy's center. Life aboard the fleet was disrupted when a famous singer, Sheryl Nome, visited, coinciding with an attack by mysterious biomechanical aliens called Vajra. The series focused on Alto Saotome, a young mech pilot who joined the military to combat the alien threat and rescued a girl named Ranka Lee during a battle.

The show featured a cast led by Aya Endo as Sheryl Nome, Megumi Nakajima as Ranka Lee, Sanae Kobayashi as Catherine Glass, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Ozma Lee.
