About Le berceau des anges
Le berceau des anges ended on May 6, 2015, after its five-episode run on Séries Plus.
This drama series was set in Montreal in 1954 and was inspired by real events involving a black market for illegitimate babies in Quebec. It depicted the efforts of a special police squad, led by Edgar McCoy, as they uncovered a clandestine organization involved in selling newborns, with connections reaching into the United States. The story also followed Gabrielle Hébert, a young woman who fled to Montreal to escape her pregnancy and became entangled in the investigation while trying to find her lover and keep her child.
The series was a fictionalized dramatization of historical events from the 1950s, when over a thousand babies were sold illegally between New York and Montreal. Wealthy Americans paid large sums to acquire children, and some clinics fabricated documents to facilitate illegal adoptions. The show featured actors such as Isabelle Blais as Alice McCoy, Marianne Fortier as Gabrielle Hébert, and Sébastien Delorme as Edgar McCoy. Each episode had a runtime of 60 minutes.
