Last of the Summer Wine was a British sitcom that originally premiered on 12 November 1973. It was a comedy series that followed the humorous escapades of a group of elderly men living in Yorkshire. Over its many seasons, the show depicted their everyday adventures, friendships, and quirky interactions, making it the longest-running comedy programme in Britain and the longest-running sitcom in the world.
The cast included Peter Sallis as Norman Clegg, Bill Owen as Albert "Compo" Simmonite, and Frank Thornton as Herbert "Truly" Truelove, among others. The series featured a total of 31 seasons and was produced and directed by Alan J. W. Bell from 1983 to 2010. The show did not have a rated score on TVMaze and had a runtime of approximately 30 minutes per episode. Repeats of the series continue to be broadcast in the UK and in more than twenty-five countries worldwide.
