The series was based on H. Rider Haggard's popular 19th-century adventure novel and was set in Africa. It followed the story of explorer Allan Quatermain, a widower fighting for custody of his son, who was hired by a woman to find her missing father. Quatermain's journey took him back to the Dark Continent on a perilous quest to rescue a captured archaeologist and uncover hidden treasures.
The show was an action and adventure series that aired in 2004. It starred Patrick Swayze as Allan Quatermain and Alison Doody as Elizabeth Maitland. The series consisted of two episodes, each with a runtime of 120 minutes, and concluded on the same day it premiered.
