Kamisama Dolls was an action anime series that premiered in 2011. It was based on a story about a young man who moved to Tokyo from his old town to escape past events. During a gathering with friends, including his childhood neighbor Shiba, they discovered a dead, bloody body in an elevator after a night of drinking. The protagonist's younger sister Utao, wielding her Kamisama Doll, accused an old friend, Aki, and his Doll of being responsible for the murder.
The show featured a cast led by Ai Kayano as Hibino Shiba, Kana Hanazawa as Mahiru Hyūga, Misato Fukuen as Utao Kuga, Miyuki Sawashiro as Kūko Karahari, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kyōhei Kuga, and Ryohei Kimura as Aki Kuga. The episodes had a runtime of approximately 25 minutes each.
