Idol School was a reality competition series that aimed to train female trainees aspiring to become K-pop idols. Over the course of 11 weeks, participants received lessons in singing, dancing, and the history of K-pop, along with mental training and public appearance preparation. The program was unique in that it allowed only female trainees aged 11 and above who were not affiliated with any entertainment company, although some former trainees and singers participated, which sparked some controversy. Viewers voted live each episode, and the students' grades were determined by these votes.

The show featured a cast including Kim Hee Chul as the homeroom teacher, Bada as the vocal trainer, Lee Soon Jae as the principal, and Stephanie Kim as the dance trainer.
