About Hikaru no Go

Hikaru no Go ended on March 26, 2003, and is no longer airing. The series concluded after its third season on TV Tokyo, with its final episode broadcast on that date.

Hikaru no Go was an anime series that originally premiered on October 10, 2001. It was based on a manga by Yumi Hotta and Takeshi Obata, and the story followed Hikaru Shindou, a 12-year-old boy who discovers an old Go board in his grandfather's attic. When Hikaru touches the board, he becomes possessed by the spirit of Fujiwara no Sai, a former Go master who wanted to play the game again. The series depicted Hikaru's journey as he learned about the game of Go and Sai's quest for the perfect game, known as "The Hand of God," with the young prodigy Touya Akira. The show combined elements of fantasy and sports, exploring themes of competition, friendship, and mastery.

The cast included Youko Matsuoka as Ochi Kousuke, Tomoko Kawakami as Hikaru Shindo, Rokuro Naya as Kuwabara Honinbou, and Mayumi Asano as Moriyama. The series ran for three seasons, each spanning several months, and each episode had a runtime of approximately 25 minutes.
