Left injured, amnesiac, and on the run, he was rescued by Rong Shanbao, the daughter of the Tea King. Once rivals, Shan Bao hid his identity and demoted him to a stable boy to seek revenge. As Lu Jiang Lai played along to survive, he became involved in the Rong family's complex search for a suitable son-in-law. The series depicted their battles of wits amid power struggles and hidden agendas, which eventually developed into a deeper connection.
