Gimme a Break! was a family comedy series that originally premiered on October 29, 1981. It centered around Nellie Ruth "Nell" Harper, who became a housekeeper for the Kanisky family as a favor to her late friend. The series depicted Nell caring for the Kanisky household and acting as a parental figure to the three daughters, Katie, Julie, and Samantha, while also navigating her own life and relationships.
