Ghostbusters was an animated children’s science-fiction series created by Filmation, based on their 1975 live-action show The Ghost Busters. It was not related to the 1984 Columbia Pictures film Ghostbusters or its animated adaptation The Real Ghostbusters. The show followed Jake Kong, Eddie Spencer, and Tracy the Gorilla—known as The Ghost Busters—as they fought to stop the evil ghost wizard Prime Evil and his henchmen from taking over the world. Their headquarters, Ghost Command, was located in a haunted mansion in a city resembling New York, supported by a cast of talking supernatural characters including a skull phone, a skeleton TV, a talking bat, and a ghost car.

The series was set in a universe where the Ghost Busters used their gadgets and teamwork to thwart Prime Evil’s schemes, which often involved opening wormholes to unleash his minions. Occasionally, they received help from Futura, a time-traveling Ghostbuster from the future, and Jessica, a TV news reporter. The show was a 25-minute animated adventure series that aimed to entertain children with its supernatural battles and humorous characters.
