Furandâsu no inu was a children’s anime series that first premiered on January 5, 1975. It was about a young boy named Nello who lived a modest but joyful life helping his grandfather deliver milk to a nearby village. Nello loved drawing and dreamed of becoming a painter like Peter Paul Rubens. One day, he found an abused and abandoned dog named Patrash, whom he took into his care. Over time, Nello and Patrash developed a close bond, and a girl named Alois from the wealthiest family in the village became a sympathetic friend. The story depicted Nello’s struggles with poverty and societal rejection, as he pursued his artistic dreams despite the disapproval of villagers and Alois’s father.

Its episodes ran for approximately 26 minutes each, and it was produced as a family-friendly series in the 1970s.
