About Frontline
Frontline ended on 19 May 1997 on ABC. The show was a satirical comedy that aired from 1994 to 1997, focusing on current affairs through humor and parody. Over its three seasons, it became recognized as one of the top Australian shows ever made, known for its sharp wit and high-quality writing, especially from Season 2 onward when the core writing team took over most episodes.
The series depicted the behind-the-scenes of a fictional news program, satirizing media personalities and the chaos of television production. It featured characters like the self-absorbed anchor Mike Moore, the egotistical reporter Brooke Vandenberg, and the troublesome Friday Night Entertainer Elliot Rhodes. The show also experimented with a sci-fi storyline in its later seasons, skipping forward several years but maintaining its comedic style.
Each episode had a runtime of approximately 30 minutes. The series concluded after its third season, with the final episode titled 'Epitaph' airing on 19 May 1997.
