Fist of the Blue Sky was an action-packed anime series that first premiered in October 2006. It was set in 1930s Shanghai and followed Kasumi Kenshiro, also known as Yan Wang or the King of Death, a Tokyo professor and the 62nd successor to the deadly assassin art Hokuto Shinken. The series depicted his adventures as he left his teaching position to help his old friend Pan Guang-Lin and his sister Pan Yu-Ling, confronting rival Hokuto families and fighting against corrupt triads to restore honor.
The show featured a cast of characters involved in martial arts conflicts and political struggles, set against a backdrop of fantasy and action. The series was animated with a runtime of approximately 30 minutes per episode.
