A declining birthrate, shortage of doctors, and a wave of maternity ward closures in rural areas. They are known as "Maternal and Neonatal Emergency Medical Unit." Their mission is to save pregnant women with complex circumstances who have nowhere else to go—completely free of charge. 

The key member of this team is Aki Mitsui, a highly skilled obstetrician-gynecologist. Despite partial hearing loss in one ear, she is a self-made specialist who is more obsessed with hearing a baby's first cry than anyone else. Can Aki and her team become the last line of defense, saving lives hanging in the balance?
