The show was a children's adventure series that aired in 2001, set in 1832 and continuing the story from Charles Dickens's novel Oliver Twist. It followed Jack Dawkins, also known as the Artful Dodger, as he was transported to Australia for seven years. During the voyage aboard the ship Pride of Erin, Dodger sought a new start in life. Oliver was also on the ship, accompanied by Hannah from Hamburg, Germany, who was searching for her brother Will in Australia. The series depicted their escape from a plot to frame Dodger for a crime, leading to a series of adventures and dangers.
The series was a single season comprising 13 episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long. It explored themes of adventure and childhood resilience, set against the historical backdrop of early 19th-century Australia and England.
