The series explored the challenges faced by the Buffkin family, including the arrival of new competitors and internal conflicts. The story followed Morgan Buffkin, the middle son, who was involved in running down troublemakers but also sought to uncover a childhood secret with the help of Julia Miller, a graduate student. Meanwhile, Morgan's older brother Cooper clashed with a corrupt detective, leading Morgan into further complications as he navigated personal and family issues.
