D.Gray-man was a fantasy action anime series that originally premiered on October 3, 2006, in 2006. It was set in a fictional world toward the end of the 19th century, where the protagonist, Allen Walker, joins a group of Exorcists tasked with destroying beings called Akuma—mechanical weapons created by the Millennium Earl using the suffering souls of the dead. Allen possessed a cursed eye and an anti-Akuma weapon arm, both imbued with the power of "Innocence," which he received as an apostle of God. The story followed Allen and his fellow Exorcists as they fought to prevent the Millennium Earl's plans, which threatened to annihilate the world.

The main cast included Sanae Kobayashi as Allen Walker, Shizuka Itou as Lenalee Lee, Kenichi Suzumura as Lavi, Mitsuo Iwata as Arystar Krory, Takahiro Sakurai as Yu Kanda, and Katsuyuki Konishi as Komui Lee. The series was rated 6.7 on TVMaze and had a runtime of approximately 30 minutes per episode.
